Taxis are available from outside the airport and atypical fare will cost approximately 8 EUR.
Driving directions: From the airport take the motorway and follow the road to the left, take the first exit Ponta Delgada/Porto. Drive down the alley with trees on both sides at the roundabout with a huge fountain in the middle, turn left and follow the sign, Centro. Follow Rua de Lisboa past the sugar factory Sinaga and the Royal Garden Hotel. Carry on until you see the beer factory, Melo Abreu on your left and the theatre on your right. Turn right and drive past the church of S�o Jos� and onto the main road. Turn left and drive along the harbour, carry straight on. Drive past the square with the city gates on your left and just after the head office of, SATA turn left. The hotel Avenida is on your left.
