Thon Hotel Munch is a city centre hotel located 700 metres from the Aker Brygge harbour area, with its lively shops and restaurants, and 100 metres from the city's main street, Karl Johan. The 180 guestrooms over nine floors feature have contemporary blue and green or red and ivory decor and come equipped with televisions, direct dial phones, desks and bathrooms with showers. Some rooms have wireless Internet access (fees apply, refrigerators and trouser presses.
The hotel is named after the renowned artist Edvard Munch, and displays several prints of his work. Guests can start their day with a buffet breakfast (surcharge) before locking valuables in the hotel safe and heading out to explore the city. The Airport Express train takes 20 minutes from Gardermoen Airport to the Central Train Station Square, which is one kilometre from the hotel. The nearest metro station is Stortinget, 300 metres from the hotel. Alternatively, taxis are readily available and cost NOK 500 900 to city centre. Bus, tram and coach services also provide connections to many destinations in and around Oslo.
Driving directions: From Oslo Gardermoen Airport, follow the E6 towards Oslo. On arriving in Oslo look for the sign 'Ring 1'. Follow this road, continue through the tunnel and turn right at the end, following signs to Ulleval/Ibsen Parkeringshus. The Thon Hotel Munch is straight ahead.
